Thumbs down possible Fioricet addiction

I'm sorry, there may or may not have been a previous topic on this but I couldn't find it so.. back to my TOPIC:
I've just turned 16, I've been on Imitrex for about 3 years for "Severe Migraine Headaches". Otherwise, the worst pain I've felt so far. Now just over a month ago, my doctor prescribed 'Fioricet' to me. I'm about 5'1, 106 lbs. I'm a little on the smaller side, but alot of medicines don't affect me. Now remember I get really bad headaches, like every day. So with this prescription, when my doctor said take 1 at the start of a headache, 2 at the start of a SEVERE headache. I tried 2, and it didn't work. I took 3, felt a little better then 4 the next time. So every time I get a head ache I take about 3-4 tablets. I love the feeling I have after about 15 minutes. No more head ache, and I feel relaxed and more able to do things I normally couldn't do, I actually started to clean up alot more. And basically more happy.
THE PROBLEM: I started taking 3-4 tablets almost EVERY day. I got this medication on April 30th, 2003, today is June 5th. So basically, I've gone through a bottle of 100 tablets within a little over a month. Given, my mom took about 10. But still, is there a problem here? I finished off my bottle 2 days ago. And now I am severely depressed. I was kind of depressed before, although I have no reason to be; I have the best family I could've asked for, and I'm doing pretty well in school. PLUS I'm back with the BAD head aches!!
WHAT DO I DO???

Kiddo,

I'm going to shoot straight with you. It sounds like your well on your way to an addictive problem if you don't do something now. But first you need (or actually your attending doctor needs) to find out why you are having these aweful headaches. My advice to you is to go back to the doctor and take your Mom with you. Communicate well with him and let him know as much as possible. It's important to remember that the more accurate info. that you can give him, the better he will be able to diagnose. My guess is that he'll run some tests and do some lab. work, etc. If these tests results reveal nothing, then he'll probably refer you to a "specialist." You might even consider getting several doctors opinions instead of putting all your eggs in one basket with only (1) doctor.

Bear in mind that in no way am I saying that taking the Fiorecet and other medication is a bad thing for your severe migraine headaches. That's what these types of medicines are for. What I am saying is that it's extremely important to keep the doctor advised and hide nothing from him or your parents. This is some pretty serious medication and it sounds like a pretty serious medical issue that you've got and it deserves the type of credence that I stated.

Best of luck to you, Kiddo. I wish you the best,

David

Kiddo...I agree with David but you didnt say how many Tabs you got on the 30th of April I mean that was over a month ago and you ran out 2 days ago. Did he give you a months worth?
You could be on a dangerous path and at any age it isnt good. You need to taper off if you get another script just cut down by one pill a week till you are back to the proper dose or quit altogether if you want. I wish you the best...God Bless.

Thank you both for your replies, I'll definitely try to consult my doctor about all of this.
I did mention that I went through 100 tablets, that's what I was prescribed. Do you think that it will look to my doctors and parents that I have like an addiction? I'm so scared to tell anyone-
I just wanted to know what the best thing to do now was.

You seem to be taking the right steps, just by typing on this board. Read some of the other posts. You are so young...don't let this nasty disease of addiction grab on to you and consume you. You have your whole life ahead of you! You are in my thoughts
