Angry Seen the Dentist \ Specialist

Well i went to see the specialist on Friday, he did a long examination and told me that before he could say for sure that i had TMJ he would have to correct alot of other problems in my mouth first.
I need various fillings, a route canal etc etc, then we will see where we go from there with splints etc. He removed a filling there and then and he replaced it with a tempory filling, the pain has been terrible since then but it is getting better this morning.
So here i am starting on what looks like a very long and winding road and also an expensive toll road, but at leat i am on the road now and maybe on the way to some pain relief and to get my life back

Cheers
Chris

Cool

Chris, Hi, please be careful on this new adventure you are about to leave on. I was diagnosed in Feb. 99, and at that time I had an abcessed tooth and my DDS who is next to God in my book is in the USAF and was going to be gone for 2 weeks. I had to have the root canal and I had no idea what that was let alone what tmj stood for. After my first trip to the endodontist, for the root canal and had to have my mouth opened for almost 1 1/2 hours I left there with the worst headache. At this time I know what caused all of that, but only because I have seen many, many doctors and had a great amount of support from my dentist and OMFS. Be careful having alot of dental work done it can lead to problems with your jaws. lisa

Hi,

I got my tmj from getting my wistom teeth taken out years ago, and I know it was the cause of the hell I live everyday...I think your dentist was wrong for not helping you with your tmj first! I need some of my teeth worked on, that is an excuse he gave you..probably because he does not "know" tmj. I need to finish a root canal I never finished because I am scared to death of dentist and I cant open my mouth at all and everyone I went to before just did not understand my tmj problem, so I have put it off forever. Make sure if you stay with this dentist you tell him to take breaks so you can give your jaw a rest...

I think you need to look around for a good tmj doctor that will help you with the tmj and worry about everything else later..If you suffer from pain like me and others on this board, you will travel a long road of searching for doctor after doctor and spending tons of money on splints, medication, office visit, theapy, etc....I wish you the best of luck and let us know what happens...
