Unhappy Does stress make TMJ more painful???.....

I've noticed that when I become more worried or stressed my jaw immediately begins to ache and progressively gets worse.

Sometimes when I've been feeling almost "normal", something will worry me(I have an anxiety disorder which does not help) and my jaw will immediately go back into the severe pain mode.

does this happen to anyone else??

Thanks

Cat

Hi Cat,

Yes, Yes, Yes, I have notice everytime I get upset or stressed out my jaw hurts worse and I get bad pain in my head (the headache from hell) It is so hard not to get stressed when your in all this pain!!

I think it is very common that stress makes TMJ worse!

Thanks Starr

I cannot believe how much stress will effect my pain. It frustrates me, and it's so hard when people who don't feel it say "can't you just take some tylenol?" Ya, I wish@!!

I've also noticed that if I eat certain cold things, my jaw will start hurting again. And sometimes I notice it feels kind of hot, for no reason at all.

thanks again, I really need the support.

Hi Cat,

It is so nice to have someone that "really" understand your pain, thats why I like this board so much...
I hate when my friends say "I know how you feel I hate headaches".. ha...It upsets me so much because they dont know how I feel, to live with this pain 24-7 is hell and they just dont understand...half of them dont even know what tmj is..

I am hear for you, if you need to vent go ahead...I always take it out on my boyfriend but dont mean to...He saids he understand my pain but he's not the one that has to live with it! It is tough I try to be strong but somedays I just break down in tears because the pain is so bad....I know you can understand that....I just wish there was no such thing as TMJ....
Wish you well,
Starr
