Post thisstarr - re anti inflammatory cream

I have been diagnosed by tmj specialist as having osteoarthritis in my tmj as well as myofascial pain dysfunction of the masticatory muscles. I too suffer from plugged ears, dizziness, ear pain and anxiety.

As I mentioned before the anti-inflammatory cream has helped a great deal. it is called diclof 10% in diffusimax. I am also taking paxil 10mg at night and diazepam 4X per day (2.5mg dose), which my MD doesn't like however the tmj specialist recommends using anti anxiety agents especially during acute episodes of muscle pain. He also suggests the cream, mild analgesics and muscle relaxants. I have started to take glucosomine sulfate which is available in vitamin dept.

I have started to feel better since I am on these meds however I have to see dentist again to have a new splint made. Hope that works!

I was also given an exercise to help with strengthening the tmj muscles. What it consists of is to put your tongue on the roof of your mouth and open and close your mouth without the teeth touching. Kind of like a fish out of water. (10 times, 10 times per day) I find this helps with the plugged ears somewhat.

Hope this helps!

Hi Grace L,

Thanks so much for answering me back,I am so sorry you suffer from tmj too. I also have Myofascial pain so I can totally understand your pain. It is so hard to deal with all of the pain 24-7. I am so glad to here everything is helping you, I want to ask my doctor about that cream, did it cost you a lot of money? I dont have insurance so it will probably be a lot.

How did they diagnosed you with osteoarthritis? I havent had the money to have all the tested done that I need to, I am just in so much freaken pain... it is just so expensive to try to cure tmj, the splint I got from my dentist a couple days ago.. (That if you bent it, it would break in half) cost me $750! The last one I try was $500 they are bleeding me dry, It is crazy they cost so much.

Thanks so much for the information,

Take Care,

Starr
