Post Anyone Else Taking Xanax or Withdrawn

Hi,

I am on day 57 of cold turkey xanax withdrawal. There is hope. The first days were rough for cravings.

Anyone else ever withdrew from xanax and stayed clean?

Thank in advance for replies.
Hope

No Hope I have never used Xanax...I do take Ativan on occasion but I have never been addicted to it. I just wanted to drop you a note and say congrats to you on your recovery that is a tough one to withdraw from I hear and very dangerous as well. You should be proud of yourself Did you use any OTC meds to help you or did you just CT with nothing to help? Again congrats on your sobriety
Autumn.

Hi Hope - I have been using Xanax for about 6 years for panic attacks. I have cut back from 1mg to 1/2 a day without too many problems but I haven't had to courage to totally quit. What kind of withdrawals did you have?

Autumn - Why do you say withdrawal from Xanax is dangerous?

Hi,

Thanks for replies. What kind of withdrawas do one have from xanax withdraw?

This is the God's honest truth on xanax withdrawal. I can't in words explain the delusions, hallucinations, and morbid dreams/nightmares. The best way I would imaging finding that out since each body is different is not take any for 24-36 hours, and that will be an absolute indicator if you are physically addicted or not.

Autumn, you say you take ativan understanding here that it is not as potent, and has has lower therapeutic value than alprazalom, how long can you go without uisng it? I had withdrawals between doses of xanax.

Best,
HOPE

I've been on xanax for maybe 6-8 months now. I started on ativan and it didn't do anything, then to xanax. I take 1.5-2mg a day. They put me on klonopin and I don't know if it was the new meds. or the combo with the pain killers or what, but something was making me feel real funny. So, I called the doc. and she put me back on xanax. I've been told that withdrawls from the benzo's are the worst of any prescription drug, and I guess I might find out someday, but I hope not. Any, good job for quitting. I'm sure it must have been hard. How long did all the symptoms last? I'm not ready to come off it yet. I need to get my panic/anxiety controlled before I do. Oh, didn't the doctor offer too wean you off the medication?
