Question Portion sizes

Hi everyone, I just bought a scale to measure my food and am confused. I think we are supposed to eat 3-4 oz serving sizes (Ex. chicken, fish,etc..) but are we supposed to weigh the food before or after we cook it?

Thanks everyone!!

Hi All!
I don't measure food at all! I just guess at it!
The only time I do measure food is when I have to have a certain amount to bake with etc. But sense I've been On Atkin's diet.I have never measured anything. I probably should,no excuses I just don't take the time. I do have have 1/2 cup containers to freeze strawberries in though.
