Question Attention all Yasmin BCP users!!

Hello all,
Right now i am currently on Ortho-Tri-Cyclen. mostly because i ddint know about the many different kinds of bcp's and because my doctor never told me any other kind. Well i've been on it since November 2002, and in the beginning it was kewl, but now i notice that i'm very moody, quiet, and get angered very easily. I'm on a 28 day pack so for 7 days i dont take the pill or sugar pills. During that week I'm happy, easy going, and generally feeling fine. So because of this I think its the pill that is doing this to me. So i was thinkg of switching to Yasmin. So to all of you who use it please tell me about your experience with it: all the side effects, the benefits, and most os all considering its a low dose bcp, do you still feel you are protected just as well from getting pregnant. I said the last line because i've heard many stories about woment getting on pregnant on monophastic low dose bcp's than typical triphastic bcp's. Thank you

Some women have had problems on Yasmin including:
Nausea, loss of appetite, hunger, break through bleeding, cramping, weight gain, weight loss, breast tenderness and growth, sleepiness, moodiness, anxiety, tingling and throbbing sensation in the legs, more acne, less acne, and more frequent urination.

I myself did not gain weight on Yasmin. (as I did on other bcp's) My face cleared up, I experienced some tiredness, more frequent urination at night (I heard this can be fixed by switching from taking it in the morning to taking it at bedtime) some moodiness (although, not as bad as I was on other bcp's) breast tenderness, and I did experience some throbbing in my leg.

I went off for a month due to elective surgery (didn't want to develop blood clots) but I'll be back on again when my period returns. In general this was the best BCP I've ever been on, and I've been on about 5 different formulations. One thing you'll find is that not just one single bcp is meant for every single woman. They all effect our chemistry differently and honestly it's a matter of trial and error when looking for a bcp that suits you. I highly recommend you tell you doctor that you want to try Yasmin for about 4 months and then you can try another formula if that isn't for you. If you look up birth control pills on your search engine, you may be able to find a list of birth control pills that are available. I believe there are about currently 50 different formulations available worldwide to women. Best of luck!

Thumbs down

Hey there
I've been on Yasmin for 2 months now, I'm currently on my 3rd pack and I hate it.
I was on Apri before, for 3 years, with no problems except for a noticeable decrease in libido.
Yasmin seems to have improved that aspect, however Yasmin is giving me such BAD HEADACHES and NAUSEA, and considerable LETHARGY, that I am going to call my doctor today to have her prescribe me something else. I can't even wait til the end of the cycle to quit.

Yasmin - LOVE it! It has helped to clear up my skin, I lost a little weight (like 3-5 lbs), no depression like I had with the Orthos.

But of course everyone is different, so you will have to see. As you can see from all the posts, different things work for different people.

Good luck.
