Red face period cramps and pain meds

What pain medications do you take when you are having bad cramps?

I have tried Naproxen, Vioxx (which I had a reaction to), Celebrex, and Ponstel. So far, the Celebrex and Ponstel has helped *a little*, but the pain is still pretty bad.

What other medications are out there?

Cool

Your best option is go on birth control. This helps the cramps and regulates your period so there are no surprises. Personally I find that Aleve works well along with a heating pad. Also I know it sounds strange but when you are having bad pains if you do some light aerobics the cramps will subside. The uteran wall is contracting rapidly in an effort to shed the lining, by using aheating pad or doing a light workout it relaxes the contactions and stops the pain. Hope I helped I have many years of experience

I'm already on BC. My cramps were much worse before I got on it, but they are still pretty bad now. I've tried all of the over the counter medications.

Heating pad works well, and I'm tried doing a little exercise. I just hate not being able to leave the house 2 days out of the month because I have such bad cramps.

Has your doctor checked you for endometriosis? If not this is where they should start since prescription meds are not cutting it for you. When pain is this severe there is normally a cause for it so if you doc hasn't done much testing yet get that going so you can get some relief.

My cramps can be pretty bad at times. I've been using a generic pharmacy brand of something called,"PMS Formula" and also one called "maximum strength menstrual formula." A lot of the medicines for cramps have had caffeine taken out, so they dont work nearly as well.
