I am a RN so, I can tell you what I know about the procedure. I practice in Canada so, I do not know if all facilities will be the same. I will not describe the procedure as I think that is inappropiate. I will tell you that we usually administer a dose of liquid Valium and Demerol when we insert the tube and you are totally unaware really of what is going on, however as you need to be awake at the time it does not totally put you under. I have had a similiar procedure done for something else and I was fine I didn't have any discomfort at all. Good Luck I think you will be fine.
