Post Please Help me..this is serious!!

My grandmother is currently seeing this therapist whom has her on all these medications...well my whole family and I know she is addicted and when she overdoses on them she becomes violent, cruel, unstable, and we have told her dr's this over and over again however he will not take her off of any of them because she lies to him and tells him she's not overdosing and that we are lying. It got as bad one time that I had to call the cops out because she went after my mohter!!!!!! She has over medicated herself..even the police saw it! still he wont take her off of them..I'll list the meds below so PLEASE tell me what you think I should do! We need serious help! Ambien is the main cause of all of this i think!! (sleep aid..which is the MAIN cause of all of this..she has become dependant and theres a new baby coming into the house soon and she is can't be around a baby when she falls over everything..talks out of her head..etc)

Her Meds:

Ambien
Serzone
Fiorcet
Lexapro
Effexor
Demerol

Thats all I can think off the top of my head but that dr prescribed EVERYONE of them to her!!! I need help..we cant handle her anymore!

My Goodness! Exactly what is her diagnosis? (What is he treating her for?) She is on a variety of drugs consisting of antidepressants to pain killers. I used to work for a Pain Management Clinic so I am familiar with the drugs she is taking but it's hard to say which of the these drugs she really "needs" without knowing her diagnosis. Overall, my suggestion would be to take her to a different Doctor. If she refuses, you may want to concider having her admitted to a drug treatment facility for detox and a re-evaluation. Wish I could offer more help. Good luck to you.

Why is your grandmother taking all of these meds?
Is it all for one thing?
It sounds to me taking all of these meds is causing sort of a toxic reaction in her body. These are too many prescriptions to take at once!
Make her go the the doctor and have the doctor re-evaluate her and narrow down her prescriptionst to one or two at the most and you will probably see a change in her.
If your grandmother is overdosing herself on purpose then take the pills from her and leave her just enough to take for the day and hide the rest of them until it is time for her to take them again.
You might want to consider changing her doctor.

Also two other options to try. Get a copy of the police report from when you called them for attacking your mother. Take that to her doctor and have him look it over. Ask him then to reconsider who is telling the truth on the situation.
Second option is like Rxgirl said. Get her to a different doctor. Again take along a copy of the police report and her medical records.
