Question Weird Nausea - Help

I often get this nausea that does not originate in my stomach. In fact, my stomach doesn't get upset at all. The nausea seems to originate in the back of my nose (if that makes any sense) Don't worry - my doctor looks at me like I'm crazy. I've even had some who completely ignored me and acted like I didn't even ask about the problem.

It feels like a mild post nasal drip. I get so nauseated that I feel like I'm going to vomit. It's not a taste or smell that causes it. It's more of a sensation. I can't seem to describe it adequately but I hope that someone can relate and/or offer me some advice. Please any input will help.

You probably do have a post nasal drip. Different people react in different ways to different things. Most of it is learnt in a sense. Some people do not react to pooh and can even pick it up barehanded if need be. Others would be nauseated at the thought but could change all that in the right circumstances. You could have this phenomenon ie you are indeed nauseated by whatever you have because of the association you have in your mind. Try ignoring the problem rather than focussing on it and see if you get better. It may take some time before that happens because associations in the mind are strong. You don't seem to have a bad problem and so give it a go for a while and see what gives.

Hi- Yes, post nasal drip can cause a feeling of "nausea" high up...Does it feel like it's in the throat? Do you gag?

It could be a thought association that I formed a long time ago but the thought of post nasal drip doesn't consciously bother me. I never thought of that...thanks. I do have allergies all year. I don't usually gag though - the feeling is higher up in the back of the nasal passages. The times that I do gag, it's in response to the thought or smell or taste of some food I'm eating when the wave of nausea hits.
