Post Help blood in urine?

Hello. I am freaking out, maybe I should go to the anxiety board. This is my problem. I was in a bad marriage, so no sex for 4 years. Now, I meet someone and for 6 months we have been having great sex. A few months ago, I had pain during during urinating, and the urgency feeling that one has with a UTI. I am 44, and have had a few in my life, and it was usually after sex. But, it has been 20 years since then. I got an over the phone prescription, felt fine after that. Now, I feel this same feeling all over again, and yes I was having sex, and we also used some sex "lotion". Excuse me but this IS embarrassing.I was scheduled for a physical today after 2 yrs, but I regularly go to the GYN, and everything is always fine, course I wasn't having sex orat least this much sex in my younger years. Well, I gave them a urine sample, they checked it and told me there was no bacteria!!!!!But there was blood!!!!! Now, I went on the internet, and now i think i have any of the dreadful diseases or conditions, even a tumor or cancer. When I had sex the other night, it hurt under my bellybutton, which is where the bladder is. That has never happened.

Has anyone ever had these symptoms and it turned out to be something simple?? If it was a bladder infection, not a UTI, wouldn't my urine have bacteria in it??

My only consolation is that I have been having sex alot(for once in my life)LOL, and I know that cystitis, etc is commonly caused from sex. So, please help, I'm afraid as to what to expect, I'm supposed to call them Friday afternoon for the results of the urinalysis. Any input or experiences with this problem? I smoke cigarettes, and I saw that it was a cause for bladder cancer. Could my SO have bruised my bladder since he happens to be large?, because that is when it hurt, and it didn't hurt a week ago, when my symptoms first appeared. HELP Thank you to anyone who answers. Also, I'm 100% sure it is not an STD......formerlsa

I'm sure you've been searching the internet like crazy and the only word you are hanging on to is "cancer", right?!!
There are so many benign and less serious causes of blood in the urine, such as trauma of some kind, (maybe to the bladder, as you mentioned!) stones, obstructions of the urinary tract, VIRAL as well as bacterial infection, and non-specific inflammation of the kidneys (may be only transient and need no treatment at all).

Stop surfing medical websites NOW...You have recently been really sexually active after a lonnnng time (you go girl!)
...Sounds very possible this really could be some kind of inflammatory process, or trauma, so try to relax as much as you can until you get, what I suspect, will be good news on Friday.

Hi:

could also be fibroid tumors. I have them and spot blood almost every day. Also at 44 you may be premenopausal which can cause this problem too. Is this person faithful only to you. could there be sexual infection? sorry but I had that once many years ago and had to be treated for pelvic inflammatory disease.

Thanks again to you both. Yesterday I waited all day for the phone call. Well, finally the receptionist called and said "there is no infection". Well, I think I pretty much knew that since there was no bacteria in the urine. So, that was it on her part, I said "Excuse me, but is blood in the urine normal? And why is it when the DR. pushed on my tummy it hurt in the bladder area? Please have him call me back". Well an hour later she called back and i happen to be outside, she left a message of referrals to a urologist.I'm PO that the DR didn't even call back and he will hear about it, my old DR for 30 yrs always called back, WHAT IS IT WITH DR"S THESE DAYS?? Also, when I had a urinalysis, did they ONLY check for bacteria, I was under the impression they check for many things, and they just better have done that. Does anyone know the answer to this? I will call and ask after the holiday weekend, but now i am left wondering!!!Anyhow, it could be a fibroid tumor as I do have a few, QUESTION? Could that alone cause a bit of blood? Its just that i don't want to go through all these tests for nothing and to be in pain and be embarrased. After I took the antibiotic that they gave me, it immedietely stopped hurting when I went pee, maybe it was just a small tear there from my activity? And maybe since it is a week before my period, or from having sex that is why there is blood there?? What do you all think? It could of been my uterus that hurt a little when he pushed it because of Fibroids? I'm just not sure what to do. I have my annual GYN appt in 3 weeks, should I just hold on until then? Now I'm thinking ovarian, Oh God, I've got to stop researching and being too much in tune with my body? BTW, I would of posted this on the urology board if I had seen it, but when i scrolled I missed that section. I don't think my post was sexually explicit, I just thought this thread was open to any questions, so SORRY I made a mistake.I wasn't looking at this problem as sexual, although it could be, I really didn't see the urology section.AND, I thought about the STD, and , we are faithful and he has no symptoms, luckily I haven't ever caught one of these, but I'm not promiscuous, but I guess that means nothing anyway just bad luck and poor judgement and being in the wrong place. So, thanks again all, and if you can think of what I should do please let me know, I don't want to make a problem that isn't even there, like my Mom said, why go searching for problems? Well, she is gone now,God bless her soul, she was misdiagnosed with brain cancer, and given 30 doses of brain radiation for nothing, then 6 months later we found out it was a stroke, so, the brain radiation fried all of her brain, she ended up blind, paralyzed, dementia, suffering needlessly to her death. So now you may understand why I don't trust DR's!!!!! fomer lsa
