My only suggestion would be to see a doctor for a sleep study. I did that and I had nothing wrong, but, they gave me some great tips on sleeping through the night. I Still go through periods of insomnia and it is miserable. I also had a rough life before now and sometimes I think about it and I cannot sleep. You may want to see a Psychiatrist also so that they can control your meds. Are you taking any decongestants? Sometimes they will keep you up also. Even if you do not sleep well during the night, do NOT take naps during the day. Try to wear yourself out during the day so that you are tired at night. Those are my suggestions, but I really would see a sleep doctor for a sleep study, because believe it or not...sleep problems can be life threatening. Good luck to you and keep us updated.

You mention a zillion things running through your head before you fall asleep and this is one of the things I asked you about in your other post. With your not being able to shut off your brain you would be wise to talk to a counselor about how to deal with this. You might also want to try some meditation and see if this helps at all. Finding a sleep study center might also be of value as already mentioned.

i totaly agree with the last two posts... you cant sleep if your brain is on overdrive... and taking meds for it is like trying to put a stopper on a bottle of soda that is ready to pop... sooner or later the pressure inside gets to be too much.
my best recomendations is that you are as productive as you can be, and try to wear yourself out... you might want to do some excercice (but not before you go to sleep- then you can get a runners high and be wired all night... in the afternoon around 5 or 6 is good) and before you go to sleep yoga and meditation help a lot. you need to relax your body and your mind... i know what it is to be haunted by your past belive me.... and i know that eventually all the stuff catches up with you at very very (to put it midly) inconvinient moments of your life... if you have a partner (or a group, or a coven...) you might want to talk openly... sometimes you just need to let it out, cry until you are worn out, and let the poison bleed out of your sistem little by little. since you are wicca there are many herbs that are relaxants that might help you sleep through the night... chamomile being the most known one, but there is also vervain, sionflower, dandelion, dill, rosemary, woodruff, primrose, cannabis, catnip, and nerve root. you can make tea with lots some of them (rosemary, vervain and primrose always worked for me). that is all the advice i can give and to wish you good luck in search for inner peace.
