Thumbs down major allergy eyes

I have been suffering with allergy eyes for about 6 months and I have had enough. Today I saw my family MD who immediatley got me an appt with an opthamologist this afternoon. She gave me several different kinds of drops to try. She also suggested I see an allergist because I need to find out what I am allergic to. I saw an allergist 5 yrs ago for chronic hives and the skin tests determined I was neg for everything they tested me for. Is is worth the time and money to go back? The only new thing in my life are 2 cats that are outdoor cats. They are in the house only occasionally. But my eyes are still bad even when we are away from home, even for a week at a time. I did not even test positive for cat allergy. Could this be the problem. Any ideas are appreciated. Also no matter what kind of allergy med I take my nose runs 24/7 for years and years.

Go and see an ND rather than an MD and try the alternatives. You have nothing to lose and homeopathy, herbal medicine and acupuncture works very well for allergies.

I was basically born with allergies. When I was 8 or 9, they mysteriously disappeared. When I was about 14, they came back again. It wouldn't hurt to get checked out...you may have developed an allergy in the past 5 years.

By the way, are you a contact-wearer?

I've had really good results with Patanol for my allergy eyes. I used Zadator for about a week, but it burned SO badly when I put it in that I stopped using it.

Let us know how it goes!

Thanks for the responses. I do not wear contacts but would like to try them again, but I know that right no it is useless. I had been on Patenol, Rhinocort and Allegra. My family MD said I should stay on all 3 because they have been finding allergies are tough this year. The opthlomologist asked if the meds are working and if not why am I still on them? She was very blunt and up front with me. I kind of went off and on the meds for a while and I wonder if they would work if I stayed on all 3 religuously. The eye Dr did not think my being on Rhinocort long term was a good idea and thought the allegra could be drying my eyes out more.
