Off of Toprol - doing fine on Verapamil

Hello, Just wanted to share my results after coming off of Toprol.
A while back, I was on here complaining about side effects of tapering off of Toprol. Could not get my HR down, when switching to Lotensin. Lotensin worked well on my BP, but could not get my HR down. It also gave me heartburn (chest pains). My doctor put me on Verapamil (calcium blocker), and my HR stabilized well within a week.
I am now doing fine on Verapamil, since it also works on controlling the HR.
It was a good choice, on behalf of my doctor(s). Hope this helps someone out there, who is having problems coming off of Toprol, due to an elevated HR. Good luck.

I am on verapamil too. Have been taking it for about a year now. My heart rate too comes down to about the 60's. When I am nervous, it does go up to about a 100. I like it because my heart rate will go up when I exercise etc, unlike a bata blocker. My bp is effected I guess some. At the drs, when I am nervous, it is about 150/90. I have a phobia of taking it on my own.
