Hi I have ecezma i think this is spelt wrong but anyway! i have it on my eyelids it is very itchy i have been using hydrocortisone now but it hasnt cleared up even without any makeup i still have it.
Does anyone know of any cream that i can use round the eye area that is hypoallergic because i have been scratching my eyes the skin underneath is quite wrinkled & I want something that also reduces lines.

Hi weesiebabe-
You should definitely see a dermatologist. Don't fool around with over-the-counter steroid ointments or creams around the eye area...cortisone is a VERY potent drug and absolutely shouldn't be used around the eyes without seeing a doctor first. You may need a cortisone injection or pills instead.

You need something to stop the itch first and then once you stop scratching, your doc can recommend a good moisturizer for the eye area.

Again, I cannot stress this enough...no steroid creams around the eyes without doc's imput!
Good luck,
Zuzu xxxx

REALLY agree with the no steriod creams around the eye area.

I have a severe chronic eczema condition which has developed over the past two years. The easiest thing you can do to combat symptoms is include more alkali-forming food in your diet. You need to eat the RAW version of the food to get the most bang for your buck, unless it's a bean. All vegetable and fruit juices are alkali-forming. Most potent are: fig juice, green juices of all vegetables and tops, carrot, beet, celery, pineapple and citrus juice.

Figs are the most potent alkali forming food from all the lists I have found. Other highly alkaline foods are Soy Beans, Lima beans, apricots, Spinach, turnip/beet tops, swiss chard, almonds, carrots, dates, celery, cucumber, Fresh beans, black/raspberries and grapes.

You can get a lot of information off Google searches for
alkali foods, alkali forming foods and acidosis.

Your symptoms sound like it's in pretty early stages so you should be able to correct it easily. I put Eucerin on the itchy patches because it moisturizes and doesn't have any additives. Cetaphil also works AFTER the lesion has flared and dried out. Sometimes just plain old vaseline works too.

Hope this helps.

What you describe sounds like what I have. My lids have bothered me for a few months. Suddenly they look very dark color, the inner half of each lid is particularly dark, very dry and wrinkled. I get these very dry patches on the inner lid and I can pick off this thick white flake of skin. They just itch every so often. I also have a dark red line that runs along the lashes. I've tried different cream. What to do

Elocon is a fast acting steroid cream/or ointment so you have to use a very thing coating and you don't want to use it long term but it is a great cream for eczema. Protopic is also a good cream which doesn't contain steroids but it takes longer to act. You can use that everyday and even as a prevenative!
