I asked my periodontist that question and she did not like Sonicare unless you get the small head, she feels the large head on the brushes is not good. I bought one anyway and for some reason i didn't like it. Then I bought the new Braun 3D and tried it but did not like it either. So what I do like and have been using for years is the Braun regular one .

my dentist and my hygentist both said sonicare without a doubt.

It depends. Sonicare is a good choice if your teeth are very straight and reachable, whereas Oral-b is a better choice if you don't have straight teeth or hard-to-reach teeth (due to smaller brushhead).
