Question Dysplasia on vulva???

I finally got my biopsy results after calling my doctor’s office FOUR times to get them. The nurse called back and told me that the doctor was supposed to call me but he had been busy with sick woman in the hospital. I would have believed this but I asked for a copy of my test results, (another FOUR phone calls to get them) and I found that he had my test results for almost three weeks! That really pisses me off because I've been stressing about this.

Any way... During the colposcopy he wanted to take a biopsy from the outside, my vulva I assume. I freaked out and said no. I didn't know he was going to take any biopsies and after him already taking four from me with no painkiller or anti-anxiety meds, I freaked.

When the nurse called she told me that I have mild dysplasia on my cervix and that the doctor wants me to come back so he can take that last biopsy. Has anyone had dysplasia on their vulva?

My doctor said he wants to do a cyro or laser. I went and got a second opinion and was told that I could wait 3 months and see if it goes away. The second doctor said a cyro could cause scarring that could prevent me from getting pregnant again. I also read that once you have a cryo it becomes harder for a doctor to do a colposcopy because the endo-whatever moves up into your cervix.

What do you guys think? Should I go back for the vulva biopsy? Should I do a cryo or laser now or just wait 3 months and see if it goes away? I had mod/severe dysplasia in 1997 and had a LEEP done. I also had a baby in July.

I haven't heard anything about cryo and not being able to get pregnant, but I have heard that the more LEEPs that you have the harder it is to carry a baby to full term. The LEEP consists of cutting away parts of your cervix and the cervix is what, more or less, prevents the baby from falling out. There are ways around that, such as stitching your cervix closed.

If you don't mind me asking, but what does vulvar dysplasia look like? Is it something that you'd be able to notice if you took a mirror to yourself?

The advice you got from your second opinion doctor is right on. I would continue to go to him and listen to what he says. Waiting 3 months is good advice. Your body can fight mild dysplasia and you may not have to do anything. You may go back in 3 months and have it be gone.

I don't know what it looks like. I'm assuming that the gyno saw an area turn white when he did the colposcopy. I pretty sure that I don't have warts and as far as I know that's the only visable sign you would see on your vulva. I've read that strain 16, which is a high risk strain, does sometimes cause flat warts in addition to dysplasia. I have what two gynos think is a mole on my inner thigh. Just to be sure it's not a flat wart, they both wanted to cut it off and send it to the lab. I'm having that done on 12/23.
