Post allergies/eye symptoms

I've been having burning and slight redness around my eye (with occasional slight itching) since late july and my doctor/allergist are guessing it's allergy related. I got tested and do have seasonal (ragweed, mold) allergies.

What I was wondering is it normal for symptoms to last into october? I still have the symptoms pretty bad (i'm in rochester, ny). Also, when you have allergy symptoms, do they generally last through the entire allergy season? Like do you have a day where everything feels fine? Cause my eye problem seems to always be bad, occasionally going to worse. I a few other allergy symptoms, but nothing that bothers me as much as my highly irritated eyes.

I also took alocril, and clarinex, but they don't seem to help my eyes. Have any of you out there taken medications like this, and just had them not help?

I never really had any painful allergy symptoms before, so any advice any of you can give would be great. I'm not even sure my eye problem is being caused by an allergy (even though the doctor's say and it makes sense)

Yup, my allergies are still going strong here in the DC area. I think it's because it was such a wet year. And my allergies also vary day to day - like today I feel good but over the weekend I was miserable.

I use prescription allergy eyedrops (Patanol is the one I use, there's several) as well as Allegra. The combo seems to help me.

OKay..thanks for the advice. I noticed you said it varies day by day. Like for me I can always feel some kind of discomfort in my eyes. However some days it's terrible and i just have to lie down and use cold compresses. Like with you during allergy season, on your "good" days are you completely symptom free? Or do you have slight sniffles/eye irritation/etc.? I'm just confused having never really noticed my allergy symptoms before and not knowing for sure if i have "allergies" or not.

I might try patanol..does it completely eliminate symptoms for you, or just make them die down?

I have awful allergies - always have.

Pretty much every day my eyes bother me. Some days it's bearable with just some watering every now and then, some days it's so bad I can barely open them an I want to scratch them out.

The Patanol doesn't eliminate the problem completely, but helps enough that I can get through my day without red itchy watery eyes. I definitely notice if I forget to use it!

Yeah..with me there is very minimal itching, but the burning in my nose and irritation/burning in my eyes gets unbearable. I tried alocril but i think the preservatives in the drop made me worse. The slight itching makes me wonder if it's an allergy, because most people I hear about have servere itching and watering...mine is mainly irritation/burning with slight itching (now and then). However a doctor told me i have signs of post nasal drip for sure and a redness around my eyes that usually is a classic sign of allergies. Hard to tell though..
