Possible useful information concerning Urticaria
Hello all. First let me say that the information I am going to provide is not intended in no way shape fashion or form to diognose or to tell you how to treat your possible condition with what may or may not be Urticaria. All I am doing here is posting some of the information I have come across since I have been diognosed with Chronic Ideopathic Urticaria and Dermatographism a little more than 3 1/2 years ago. I do recommend however that if any of this information seems to fit what you are going through or experiencing feel free to copy it and talk with your doctor about it. Over the next few days I am going to cover a broad range of the different manifestations of Urticaria. Just to let you know, I am not a doctor either. I am just a man who got tired of waiting on my doctor and specialist doctors for answers. The information I am providing though does come from real doctors I have found since I have been doing my research. The reason I have decided to post this information is because I have read numerous other posts from people who describe symtoms just like those that I suffer from, And believe me I can definitly sympathize with what you are going through because I know what I have been through and continue to go through on a day to day basis. Now some of the different kinds of Urticaria I have a lot of information on and some I don't, but I will post what I have, and as I find more I will post that as well. Please keep in mind that the information I am posting will be in the words of the doctors who have provided this information and not mine. When I make any comments I will specify with "My comments" and then "end comments" so you will know which is which.
The topics I will be posting are as follows:
Urticaria (hives, nettlerash)
Acute Urticaria
Heat rash
Cholinergic Urticaria
Solar Urticaria
Chronic Ideopathic Urticaria
Vasculitic urticaria
Pressure Urticaria (AKA) Dermatographism
Contact Urticaria
Urticaria caused by aspirin, food colouring and preservitives, and salicylates.
Stress related Urticaria?
Please remember also that this information is not intended
or can be regarded as individual medical advice. your medical treatment should follow the recommendations of your doctor. Although if you find it helpful it may or may not give you and your doctor ideas you and your doctor may or may not have thought about.

Hello all. Not a lot of information on this topic, but here it is.
Acute Urticaria
Many people get urticaria when they eat certian foods like shrimp or strawberries or in hot weather. This condition is called strawerry rash or heat rash. This can last for just a short time a couple of hours or a few days. This is called (acute urticaria). Acute just means it lasts for a short time.
Acute urticaria can also be triggered by foods or medicines, aspirin seems to be the most common and some others are painkillers. These triggers are usually pretty easy to identify and may be easy to avoid, but aspirin sensitive urticaria can also be triggered by certian foods containing salicylates, some food colourings, and some food preservativies,
but this may not be easy for you to identify. Consulting a dietitian might prove to be helpful.
Acute urticaria can also be a much more serious food allergy, like alergy to nuts or rubber latex which goes along with bananas and other fruits.
In fact acute urticaria is also one of the symtoms of a serious condition affecting the whole body called anaphylaxis.
"My comments" I do not know much about this particular
Kind of urticaria, but I posted it for information. Now I am not trying to scare anyone by doing this. I just wanted to give a broad spectrim of possablities that may or may not prove to be helpful and or useful.
As I get time I will be posting more information on the other kinds of Urticatia.

Hello all, this topic is about Urticaria (hives, nettlerash)
If you have a lumpy and itchy rash which looks like the effcet of a nettle sting and occurs for more than six weeks, you are like one person in five who gets this at some stage of life. This is called a
'nettlerash' even though it is not caused by nettles.
The Latin name 'urticaria' comes from the Latin word 'urtica' which translated means stinging nettle.
Hives is the English translation which means that it isn't caused by stinging nettle.
It is often said people who suffer from urticaria have allergies, and could possably be true if the hives only lasted for a short time, like for a few hours or a couple of days after eating a certian food or taking a particular medicine. True urticaria however lasts much much longer.
Sometimes urticaria/hives is refered to as an heat rash because some people only break out when they get hot. Another name some people use is prikly heat, but true prikly heat is caused from an infection of the sweat glands in people who don't bath often enough.
Prikly heat is not urticaria.
Some people with urticaria get much larger swellings often effecting parts of the mouth, lips, eyelids throat and other parts of the body. This is known as 'Angioedema', and comes and goes.
"My comments" I hope this proves to be helpful information for some of you people looking to better understand the differences these conditions. "End comments"

Hello all. Well here is some more information. There is not very much info on this subject but here it is.
Heat Rash
What is heat rash? Heat rash is a condition brought on when the body gets warm or hot, it can happen after taking a hot shower or bath, or when the weather is hot. Almost all or mabe all urticaria gets worse when the body is hot.
This has been described by some as 'prikly heat', but that is a mistake. Prikly heat is a condition brought on from an infection in the sweat glands. This can happen especialy if you live in the tropics and don't practice good personal hygine.
Some people only break out into hives when the weather is hot. This is called by most people a 'heat rash'. Most likly it is ordinary urticaria, but need a little help from heat to show up, because by itself it isn't strong enough.
If after exercising you develope lumps that are very small all over the body, this could be a condition known as 'cholinergic urticaria', which is brought on by raising the core body tempature through exercise.
"My Comments" Well that's all information I have on that condition. As always I will post what ever else I find on any of the topics I cover. I hope the people reading this information find it useful. "End Comments"

Hello All. I don't have much I this aspect of urticaria, but I do invite anyone else who might have more to share on any of these topics to post whatever thay have that might help.
Cholinergic Urticaria
If you have tiny lumps At least 2 to 4 mm in diameter all over the body appearing when your body gets hot, especially when or very shortly after exercising, these are typical of cholinergic urticaria.
The word "Colinergic" was used because the rash can also be produced in some people by injections of a chemical released by nerves and called "acetyicholine"
It is not clear that this is the way that the rash comes about in people who have cholinergic urticaria.
Cholinergic urticaria is very hard to treat, possibly seeing a specialist might be worth your while.
"My comments" Well I hope this help some of you out there, sorry I haven't been posting lately, because I have been sick and just wasn't up to it. Anyway here it is. And Again sorry it took so long. "End comments"
