Question Hoosier, et al... could it be the Ambien ???

Let me start by apologizing for my lengthy absence. My stepson downloaded spyware and parasites along with "cheats" that destroyed my computer 2 weeks ago.

I am basically BPI, although diagnosed "mixed state". I am definitely "med resistant", just like my Dad.

I keep a ton of meds on hand for quick tweaking, but react to darned near everything badly. Less is more, in my case, and continued medication always sends me spiraling in an unforseeable direction...

Ambien is on the ready IF sleep deprivation goes to extreme. Hence, after not using it for quite some time, I did use it the last 3 nights in a row... That's where my question comes in...

I "might" be experiencing a mild touch of the flu, but today while shopping, I had some of the worst short-term memory losses I've ever experienced ~ literally trying to pay for the same goods TWICE. The agitated "departure" lasted for a span of at least 6 hours.

Is it possible that the Ambien had anything to do with that ???

Has anyone else had any similar experience(s) ???

Could possibly be from the ambien.

I was on it for about a week straight and experienced the same thing, I also have the same things happen to me while on xanax now.

Funny how the meds can make you worse off than you were to begin with.

Thumbs up Re: Hoosier, et al... could it be the Ambien ???

Thanks for the nice response, "off_thedeepend"... I came "west" from Carolina after Viet Nam, myself...

My "shrink" (pdoc?) had warned me off of Xanax and Klonopin after similar experiences with them. I had horrible experiences (pre-diagnosis) in the mid-80's with Halcion ~ which sent me into mega-paranoia (I heard that more than a few homicides were later attributed to Halcion - thank God I didn't commit one of those !!!)...

The "morning after", I invariably wake up with a crunching headache (with Ambien)...

I absolutely loved your statement about the cure often being worse than the disease !!!

Have a great day, and a splendid Christmas !!!

Re: Hoosier, et al... could it be the Ambien ???

I took Ambien for years I stopped over a year ago, my mom also still takes it and has for the past two years. We have never experienced anything like that. Although meds are different for everyone, just depends on your resistance level. I took a whole pill the highest dosage. My mom takes a half pill at the lowest dosage. We slept great, we always woke up feeling like we had a good night sleep. I would still be taking it if I could with my current meds but I can't. My mom will probaly never stop taking it. She doesn't take it every night. I did take mine every night. I would continue taking it a few more times, if the symptoms continue and that is the only med your taking then you will know it is the Ambien. Good luck to you!
