Post To Copper

Hello, I'm sorry I was unable to respond to the questions you directed to me earlier.

I do not care to give any personal information, beyond that my area of expertise is neuropsychology.

As to your question "Why would you search a supernatural site for medical information?", CSICOP investigates a wide variety of areas, beyond claims for the supernatural. CSICOP consists of the finest scientific minds in the world. Areas of interest to CSICOP range from megavitamin therapy to statistical theory, quantum physics, spontaneous human combustion, so-called religious 'miracles', ufo's, alternative medicine and therapies including facilitated communication, auditory training, chiropractic, etc.

The basic premise of CSICOP researchers is that, if something exists, it should be repeatedly demonstratable. For example, if prayer can improve the clinical course of sick individuals, we should be able to prove this via double-blind studies, in which neither the patient nor physician know whether someone is praying for them. CSICOP members tend to be biased towards the null hypothesis, but do design and carry out excellent experiments, as well as meta-analyses on a fascinating variety of subjects.

Whatever your personal beliefs are on any of the topics investigated by CSICOP, you are likely to find their work fascinating. Their webpage can be viewed and searched at www.csicop.org. Their bi-monthly magazines are much more comprehensive than the digests available on the webpage.
