Re: I was wondering

I think what my surgeon is doing is cauterizing (however you spell that) as he cuts out the tonsils. I am not sure the name of this prodecure, but he says it is better for the recovery period and less painful. He also told me that people who take anti-inflammatories pre and post op have a less painful recovery. This is why I started taking Vioxx on Friday. Anyone know anything about this? I am curious as well.

Re: I was wondering

Thanks for sharing my surgeon used an electricculterizing knife. (Probably what they are using for you???) However I didn't take any meds before surgery but now that the surgery is over I have to take perkeset with codeine for pain, steroids for the swelling and a antibiodic to keep the chance of infection down. I was in surgery for about 1 1/2 hrs wich is actually longer than normal.

Yes! That is what he is using for me, I couldn't think of the name of it or the real description of it. I am going to be on Vioxx after the surgery, Lortab elixer, Amoxicillin, and he's having me gargle with Carafate diluted with water. Supposedly that coats your tonsils and helps promote the healing and lessens the pain. Tomorrow at 730am is the surgery. I hope I can handle the pain.
