No energy! Spiro is sucking the life out of me!

I have been on Spiro for about a week and I have been so tired... its horrible! I can already tell that its working on my skin so I dont want to stop it, but I dunno how long I can go on living with absolutely no energy! I am a very active person... I work out constantly, dance & play sports, not to mention I work a full time job & go to school... so this isnt good!! Has anyone had the same problem?? If so, does it go away in time?? I'm thinking maybe my body just needs to adjust to it or something. I'm not even on a high dose of it... only 25mg a day! I'm also on 500mg of Erythro and a new BCP (Apri)... could it be a combo of all these meds?

Also... I am loosing weight & really hungry all the time now (not that I didn't have a huge appetite already)... is that good?

HELP!!!

Re: No energy! Spiro is sucking the life out of me!

I was so so so tired for the first week- almost 2 weeks of being on spiro. I would go out to dinner with my family over Thanksgiving weekend and felt like I could fall asleep in the restaurant at like 5 pm!! I am also an active person and work out every day so it was bothersome and I could tell it definitely was not a normal tired feeling. It was kind of all the sudden later in the day after I took it and it's like you just want to close your eyes because they are so heavy. However, the symptom went away so hopefully it will for you too. I don't know any side effects of the bcp and erythromycin but it's probably just the spiro. Try to give it some more time!

Re: No energy! Spiro is sucking the life out of me!

You know that's funny cuz i'm on Yasmin. And since i've been on it I would go home and take a nap at like 5pm!!!!! It's a daily thing I swear! I don't if the spiro in yasmin is the same amount as your taking but I can't stand it. I'm not going to stop it cuz it helps with bloating. I've lost 4 lbs. I might just add a b5 or b12 vitamin in my day and see if it helps. I hate feeling tired even when i've had 7 or 8 hrs of sleep.

I, too, was tired when I first began spiro. I didn't realize that it was the spiro though; I thought I was just worn out as I maintain a really busy schedule. Good news is that I'm not having to take those afternoon naps anymore. I've been on it a month now, and I'm not feeling tired and the slight dryness that I experienced in my lips is gone, too. Stick with it; you'll be happy you did.

I have been on Spiro now for about a year (75mg/day) I can't take it in the morning or I'll fall asleep at work. I take it after dinner or right before I go to bed. It works just as well and helps me sleep too! I don't know what I'd do without this medicine. I've tried birth control pills and they just made me feel really sick and I gained 8 lbs. of water weight gain. With the Spiro, I've actually lost a few pounds....it's great around my peroid...no bloat!
The Spiro has kept me consistantly clear and my face is half as oily as it use to be. I hope this stuff never stops working!

Good luck to you all!!!
