Asthma & Antidepressants

Anyone know a good antidepressant medication that mixes well with asthma meds (advair, flovent, combivent, etc..)? Having uncontrolled severe asthma can be quite depressing, you know?

I agree. I'm not on an antidepressant, but my shrink seems to think Prozac is compatible with all the asthma meds I take. As always, however, you need to run it by a medical professional.

Having severe uncontrolled asthma can be depressing. Have you talked to a doctor about it? I've been able to steer away from the anti-depressants because I see a psychologist through Natoinal Jewish who understands that my steroids make me have bouts like that, but she also encourages me to try and live a normal life. Do you talk to a psychologist? Have you tried to fix the depression or deal with it instead of covering it with anti-depressants?

Re: Asthma & Antidepressants

Hello
I take amitryptyline (I may have spelt that wrong) and that doesn't cause any problems with me. It does say something in the info about not taking it with citirizine tho. And i still get very fed up and down. It might be an idea to find someone to talk to like a counsellor or an asthma nurse who can help you deal with it. My GP is brilliant, as is my specialist.
Keep smiling

I take Paxil and I'm on Advair and Singulair, amongst some other things. I only take a low dosage of Paxil, because I'm not on it for depression, but for fibromyalgia. I would think you could take a higher dosage and be fine.
