1st Check Up Since D-Day

Last Friday I had my first follow up doctor visit since I was diagnosed on 12/2. The doctor was very happy since I lost another 18 pounds, which brings my total weight lose to about 60 pounds. My A1C was 10, which was down from 12.2 a few weeks ago. My fasting blood sugar was 96. So far I have been able to keep my blood sugars in line with a little help from Avandamet and the Atkin's Diet. Next doctor's visit is scheduled for February. I hope everything continues to go well.

Edited to add: The results of my blood tests were all positive. My cholestrol was 126. All of my numbers were great. It appears that the Atkin's Diet works great for me. I know that it is not for everyone.

Happy Holiday's to All!

Re: 1st Check Up Since D-Day

Congratulations, Michael. It sounds like you are definitely headed in the right direction. Your A1c is still high, but a 2.2 drop in just 3 weeks is excellent! And your next one is bound to be significantly lower at the rate you're going.

All in all, good numbers, and good work. Have a wonderful holiday.

Re: 1st Check Up Since D-Day

Way to go Michael. Sounds like you are headed in the right direction. I have been following a low carbohydrate diet for almost 5 years now with good results.

If you want to learn more about how dietary carbohydrates affect your bloodsugar, I suggest you get a copy of Dr. Eades book "Protein Power" or "Protein Power Lifeplan" or "Dr. Bernstein's Diabetes Solution". You can do a google search for the above to get a little bit more info about the books and you can also read online reviews and excerpts at ********** Many libraries also carry the books.

Re: 1st Check Up Since D-Day

That's good news, Michael. I just had my first 3 month checkup since diagnosed and my A1c was down to 5.8 from 6.4 due to a low carb diet. My cholesterol report was also good. Keep up the good work.
