Question Does anyone else have this symptom?

Hi

Although I don't remember when I first noticed this and it does'nt happen very often, about once or twice each month a stinging or burning-type pain will be felt at various locations on my tongue (today it was the tip). It's almost as if a small bee had stung me there and it only lasts a few minutes and then completely dissapears. Once or twice when this has happened and I have looked at my tongue in the mirror to see what it might be, I can't see anything unusual. It just comes and goes.

Of course my mind wants to start racing and thinking about things like a pinched lingual nerve caused by oral cancer that is ravaging my tongue or some hidden herpes virus that is slowly eating it away, etc but who knows what it is.

So can anyone else relate to this?

Actually I saw a doctor at the ER 4 days ago, my GP this afternoon and I have to go in a third time tommorow afternoon to have a CT scan done and then I go in to see two different ENT's for a possible biopsy and other tests on the second and again on the eighth of next month.

Not sure how you got the impression that I was'nt seeing a doctor but I can assure you that I am seeing everyone I can get my hands on in an effort to get to the bottom of this thing. I'm also taking an antibiotic that the doctor prescribed for me in case it's just an infected tooth or jaw.

Anyway, thank's for your concern and hope everything is going well for you:-)

i think it was from the post about general health care that a person needed an eye to be hanging out to get to see an internist right away. why did you go to the ER? did they find anything? did your GP? i hope you are ok.

Oh, ok I know what your talking about now. Yeah, I was lamenting about how difficult it can be to find a good doctor or get an appointment to see a specialist for some people, etc. A few people get lucky and have a good doctor but my insurance pays so little I usually end up with pretty crappy care so I tend to rant about my experiences a lot ;-).

Anyway, I went into the ER the other day because I was hoping to have them call in an ENT to do a biopsy of this thing in my mouth (which they told me they could do) but when I got down there, all I got was a referral to see an ENT which is actually a very GOOD thing (providing that this ENT is a decent one and not someone who just blows me off). The GP I saw 4 days ago just gave me a prescription for Z-Pack (Azythromycin) which is what I had hoped for anyway in case this thing turns out to be an infection. He also gave me a course of Allegra which is supposed to be an excellent allergy med.

The GP I saw today ordered the CT scan I will be having tomorrow afternoon. Well, my fingers are getting tired from typing. It is obvious that you are a caring and concerned person who wants to help and I appreciate that. Not much else to say at the moment though - will keep you all posted and thank's again.

- Joe
