Question Can it be PCOS ?

Hi everyone

Me and my fiance being having unprotected sex without ejaculating inside of me for two years , but for about three months now he's being ejaculating inside of me to try to have a baby. I have never being on BCP or used condoms with him, which makes me think that maybe one of us have a problem. I have never had regular AF. I went to this site that I heard about here that talks about PCOS and its symptoms, like Weight gain, irregular periods, dark patches, dandruff, and losing hair. This are some of the symptoms that I'm coming up with. I never heard about PCOS up until last night, and reading all of the symptoms made me scared and I broke up in tears . I don't know what to do, I've been reading all of you lady's post, I don't know what to do. Please take the time to try to help me. Do you think it might be PCOS ? Thanks

Re: Can it be PCOS ?

First you are jumping th gun a bit...you have only been trying for 3 months and most healthy couples take up to a year of trying to get pregnant.
Second even though the withdrawl method isnt the greatest birth control it is still considered a form of birth control. So relax and dont go looking for trouble just yet. Give it some more time and then after a year of actually trying go see your doctor and get your homrones tested. Your partner at that time should also get his semen and hormones tested to see how things are with him.
You need to make sure you have good insurance because infertility testing is not cheap and not all insurances cover it.
Of course even being pregnant is not cheap so hopefully you have good insurance for that. Your partner's insurance isnt going to cover your pregnancy unless you are married. So you might want to work on a wedding to get your mind off of ttc.
Another thing you can do is read the book Taking Charge Of Your Fertility by Toni Weschler.

The newer version is said to have a bit more info in it...I have the older version and love it. I am planning on getting the new version here soon just to see what differences there are.

Re: Can it be PCOS ?

I agree with Prunepie. I bought the book Taking Charge of your Fertility about 5 mos after TTC. I starting charting my temps and that is what made me realize something was wrong. My temps never went up they just stayed the same and my cycles were about 40 days long. I started some testing and found out I wasn't ovulating. And when I went to an RE he tested and found out I had PCOS. And that was all less then a year into TTC. Just think if I would have waited. My RE told me that if PCOS is not treated it can cause Diabetes, Heart Disease, Cancer, ... the list goes on. It sounds like especially the diabetes is very common. My RE started me off on Glucaphage (which is a drug to help control Diabetes) to help me ovulate. It worked he still has me on it along with infertility drugs.

So I would start with buying the book and charting your temps to see if you in fact ovulate. If your are TTC the sooner you find out the better.

Good Luck.
