Post Carepartner help (caregiver)

I feel bad for so many of you,as some don't get the information you need for this horrific disease.Go to your Alzheimer's Association Chapter there Is a world of Information there, books you can either buy,or check out. Also video's.If your chapter has none of this, find one that does. There Is too much misinformation out there that people misconstrue. There Is EOAD(early onset, alzheimer's disease)The age for this Is 60 & under, which Is about 10% the rest is in the age group of the 70's to 90's.We do not get AD then sit & die.I have now 187 friends with dementia of different types.Mine is AD.Dementia Is just an umbrella word, since there are many types out there.

You are so right, there is so much info out there to read about this disease. I have worked with Alzhemiers for a year now, and I still learn something new every day. You are my inspiration on here snowlynne, I love to read your posts since you actually have the disease. I am grateful for your information also, you are first hand experience on this.

You got that right, alot of the doctors we deal with are clueless actually. I sure wish alot of them before they get their degree, would have to take a course in Dementia, it would really be of help to them.

I have just now found this board and very glad to be able to conserse with people that have common sense concerning Alzheimers. Reading, support groups and friends are all good, but nothing does as much as on hands dealing with this awful disease. When my Mother was diagnosed with this dreaded, awful disease, I was so surprised at how little the doctors knew and, dare I say, their best suggestion was to give them nerve and sleeping pills. Finally, I found a Dr. that took an interest and helped me to find my way at becoming the parent and my Mom the child.
Now I am caring for an elderly gentleman whom has been diagnosed with Alzheimers and have ran into a problem in which, again, I am having a hard time dealing with. I know it is trial and error on many things but, I desperately need some help. This poor man hollers from the time he gets up in the A.M. until he goes to bed. Was doing the same at night but have finally found the answer to the bed time scenario. A higher dose of his sleeping meds. and added another one, but, can't make this man sleep all day. I am at my wits end and I feel so sorry for him. Any suggestions? Can't find a Dr. that has any answers either. Anything in which anyone might have had the same problem with any kind of answers.
I would be forever gratefully to anyone that could help me out.
THANKS......SARAH
