Red face What can be done about Rosacia

My mother has rosacia and I think that I also have it. So we both have to be very careful on what products we buy, sometimes they really make our skin RED. I have read that the BE makeup is good for covering up rosacia, I am going to check into the make up.
Do you know of a good cleanser & moisurizer that cleans great but is gentle enough for this type skin?

Thanks
Connie

Re: What can be done about Rosacia

Hi Connie,

My dad suffers with rosecea, too. And I have an aunt who is an Aesthetician who has provided him some samples of: tree oil, calming lotion, etc.

But he greatly benefitted when he went to the dermatologist. They gave him some cream called metronidazole. Now his face isn't so red and irritated.

Here is a list of some things to avoid: astringents, peeling agents, harsh soaps, oily cleansers, and cleansers containing alcohol.

Also, here are some possible triggers that might aggravate rosecea: sun, extreme heat or cold, hard exercise, spicy foods, alcohol, stress, and hot beverages.

I know how much this has affected my dad, so I hope you can benefit from some type of treatment. I wish you the best.

Re: What can be done about Rosacia

I have mild rosacia and the best cleanser I found that didn't make my face red was Elizabeth Arden's Ceramide Purifying Cream Cleanser. I usually buy it off **** for under $10 but if you buy it at a dept store it will be over $20. The most important thing (that I've found) is to not use anything for oily skin or anything with alpha hydroxy in it.

I also use the BE makeup and it works well for my skin. As for a moisturizer I use Estee Lauders Verite Calming Fluid. It's made for sensitive skin, but still some ppl can't use it, so I would try it first if you were interested in it.

Hope this helps
