Provigal and Elvigal(?)--Amytriptolene. What do you know about them?

I just started the two medicines...anyone know about them?? Side effects, etc?
Provigal is to reduce fatigue and the other one is to help me sleep better. The a-one (too long to type! lol) helps me on weekends (where I can get 8-10 hrs of sllep, but on school days it makes it harder to wake up (on schoolnights, I tend to get 6 hrs or slightly less). Im not sure what to do about that!
Thank you for reading, and I would really appreciate any knowledge on the medicines!

Re: Provigal and Elvigal(?)--Amytriptolene. What do you know about them?

I was prescribed the provigil for my narcolepsy and hated it! I had a horrid migraine for two weeks straight, decreased memory and very little improvement in my wakefulness. I belong to a board just for narcoleptics and provigil is completely being slammed. At least with this group of people we have bad side effects with little to no benefit for about 95% of the people. Yet none of this is in any of the paper work I recieved and even the pharmacists aren't aware of how common bad side effects are.
The good news about it though is the ones it works for, it's a wonder drug. I hope you are one of them. The other I think is a tri-cyclic anti-depressant, but I'm not sure.

Re: Provigal and Elvigal(?)--Amytriptolene. What do you know about them?

hey i take amytriptyline for sleep regulation, how much are you taking? i tried 10mg tablets last year n found it very hard to get up the next day and it made me really groggy, so couldnt do mornings in school. Now i am trying 5mg ni liquid form as its too small a dose to be in tablets, and finding it ok, no effects in mornings. I have only been trying it for 2 weeks, and need to give it 3-4 months to get properly into system and working, but if you are finding it trouble in the mornings ask your doc to reduce your dose! pm me if you want any more info

I'm not an expert on Elavil (Amitryptaline) or anything but I was prescribed it once for pain occuring with Interstitial Cystitis. I was told it is often used for chronic pain conditions (maybe like fibro?) because it somehow interferes with pain signals, like it "turns down the volume" on pain so to speak.

But boy it can make a person sleepy. Plus I found it increased my appetite a lot.
