Question Could a back problem cause all this?

Hi Everyone,

for the last several years I have been suffering from knee and ankle pain. Not only do my knees and ankles hurt but my calf and thigh muscles ache frequently. I always figured it was hard work that caused the pain so I never really persued the prob. Several months ago I had back to back to back flu like symptoms and became dizzy and spaced soon after. Well I have been dizzy\lightheaded and spaced out/brainfog ever since and have been unable to work because of it. My legs still hurt sometimes very bad and my lower back and pelvic area are hurting more frequently too. I have no idea if the problems are related. The docs thought my dizziness is anxiety related so they put me on paxil. 6 months on paxil has not helped and may be causing more problems. I get hot/cold sensation in my back and arms and this started a month after starting paxil. I could be wrong, it may be other symptoms.

I am 35 years old. Could these problems be linked? Is there any OTC drugs to relieve pain, advil does not work. At one time advil did work. Also I was getting severe head and neck aches but they have subsided since I started paxil.

Does anyone know what is going on with me? Other than the dull pain in my lower back and the hot/cold sensations in middle back I dont experience any severe back pain. I just sometimes wonder if all this could be caused by a back problem.

Thank you.

Derek

Re: Could a back problem cause all this?

Hi, I have lower back pain that is radiating to my legs and buttocks. This has persisted since last summer when I also got lyme disease. I don't know if they are related because I have spent the last five months trying to find a doctor that can help me. Were you ever bitten by a tick?

Hi Dtemple, I have been bitten many times in my life by ticks. It has been a while since I have found one. I am also frequently bitten by mosquitos. Has it been proven that mosquitos, horseflies and chiggers can not carry lyme. I dont know what it is. I am going to be seeing a doc on 2/3 and would like to be able to help them but im afraid I will point them in the wrong direction. It seems to me since all this started the docs are not to smart and I worry that whatever it is making me feel like **** all the time is going to unoticed. They are going to test me for lyme, it will be negitive and that will be the end of that. I have no idea what it is suppose to feel like. I am by no means bedridden but I am unable to work because of my woozyness/spaciness 24/7. I have dealt with the leg pain for several years. How can a person tell if it is lyme? In several years time dont you think I would get to where I couldnt walk. My pain started in my legs and is radiating up.

Thanks for responding DTemple good luck with your lyme. If you have lyme anyone should be able to treat it. I am pretty sure it is just high doses of antibiotics such as rocephen. For some reason it is very expensive so I hope you have insurance. I guess it is expensive because, well just because. You know what I mean. I think a shot of rocephen is like $25.00 but the magical rocephen used to treat lyme is in the $35,000.00 range.

Sorry for sounding negitive.

Re: Could a back problem cause all this?

Perhaps you feet/legs are causing your back problems. I have had back pain for 8 years and have had every xray, mri, scan, specialists, chiro, physio, osteopath and no one knows why my back seizes. I am now talking to a podiatrist who said some orthotics may help me. My pain has become bad and I have had anxiety, palpations etc. I have just been to a chiro again to loosen me up then off to get my feet sorted. Good luck.

Re: Could a back problem cause all this?

Funnily enough, when my back is going to be really sore for a few days I know because prior to this my ankle really, really hurts. This goes back to ankle pain during a prolapsed disc. Even though I have had a spinal fusion and a discectomy to relieve the nerve pressure which radiated in my leg and led to loss of feeling in my foot (which still remains today) my ankle still gets very painful, hand in hand with my back pain. Strange! I feel for you. I at least had a diagnosis and a brilliant consultant in London who has been great. It is so frustrating when you know there is something wrong, but nothing shows up. Good luck to you.
