Here's a starter List of Acne Safe Prepared Meals

Hey,
I know some of you keep asking what you can eat on these diets. Since some of us are following a Low Carb diet, Gluten-Free, or Paleo Diet, I thought I'd post some restuarants that deliver prepared meals to our door.
These would be for those of you that don't know how to cook or don't have the time. That way instead of starving or not knowing what meals would be balanced nutritionally, you could always grab one of these out of the freezer. =)

The meals cater to Gluten-Free, Low Carb (think Zone, Atkins, South Beach), Vegeterian, as well as typical Dieters. They range from typical home cooked meals to gourmet and some can be customized for special diets. I came across around 30 resturants, but certain cities probably offer more along with personal chef services. Of course, they are all over the U.S., Canada, UK, and elsewhere in Europe so I'm sure there is a (affordable) place near you =)

Oh hey Prometheus, if you're reading this, are any of these the place you were speaking of? These are what I would consider healthier than "Healthy Fast food", but it does depend on the company in mind.

*Most offer Homemade, Organic, No Preservative and/or Gourmet dishes.

*Depending on the quality of the food or if it's a gourmet company, the prices range from $2 - $40 per MEAL, but the average is $5 - $10/meal

*You can save money, if there's a store or resturant in your area, otherwise you are looking at a $12 - $30 FedX 2 Day Shipping Charge. Some offer free shipping & periodic discounts.

Fresh & No Preservatives

Diamond Organics - $4.50 - $10.50/meal (most made w/spelt)

Diets To Go $6/meal - Low Carb/Gluten Free, Vegetarian, etc

Cuizami $3 - $8/meal/entree

Zone Chefs $7.50/meal (counting 2 snacks as a meal) - Low Carb (some Gluten Free)

Diet Delivery $8 - $9.50 /meal Low Carb (Canada)

Zone Gourmet $9/meal - Low Carb

Zone Cuisine $9/meal (counting 2 snacks & Fish Oil supplement as a meal) - Low Carb (NY, NJ, CT)

Family Chef 8$ - $10/meal

5 Squares $10/meal (counting 2 snacks as a meal) - Diary & Wheat Free

Delightful Deliveries $15 - $40/meal

Organic Planet (Philadelphia and surrounding areas) - Vegan, Vegetarian

Frozen Delights (variety of cooked & raw meats)

Real Food At Home (Dublin)

Fresh & Semi-Processed

Nutrisystem $2 - $3/meal (counting dessert as a meal) - Low Carb

Schwan's $2 - $6/meal (wide variety)

Dietary Specialites $6 - $8/entree - Gluten Free

Home Bistro $5 - $15/meal Low Carb & Regular

At these prices, this is something that I'm seriously considering for those fast paced days. When I don't plan properly, I end up paying $4 - $6, sometimes even $10 (ribs) a meal for Healthier Fast Food (Resturants $6 - $20) and most of those meals would be far more nutrious for me.

Now for those of you that do have the time and enjoy cooking but aren't certain about nutrient uptake there's plenty of places on the web that offer Recipes, Meal Plans, Nutritient content per food, and (weekly or monthly) Nutritional Calculators. =)

LOL, that's why I said that there are companies that do this in other countries. I found a few (Dublin, Canada, UK) and I'm sure if you did a search you would find more (and add to this list).

Of course this is for those that like convience, are concerned about missing nutrients, uncertain about what to eat on their new diet, can't cook, or don't have the time to. There's also local Personal Chefs or Nutrional/Meal programs that provide services to the Elderly, sick (AIDS, cancer), and those with Special Diets.

They either deliver foods every day or every week or, if it's local, you can pick them up yourself. Again, if the company or resturant is local (some are nationwide), then it usually doesn't cost anything to have meals sent to your home. Otherwise, I guess you'll have to learn to cook & balance your meals properly...that's not a bad thing. =)

Re: Here's a starter List of Acne Safe Prepared Meals

He he, it's cool. To me, I think this is a great service because my Grandma lives all the way in Florida and if we can set up Grocery & Meal programs for delivery or pick up this would be of great benefit to her. So does anyone know of Co-ops in Florida?

Also, I think it would be great if you are a member of a Co-op if you could list it here for others. For those that don't know, a Co-op is a buying group that allows you to purchase small or large quantities at wholesale prices! In this case, I'm asking for Co-ops/Grocery stores that sell Fruits, Vegetables (Grains, & Legumes) for Home Delivery or Pick Up. That way more of you can eat those fruits and veggies ;-)

Thanks
