Brain tumor?

Hi, I'm 16 years old. Since a few months ( maybe 2 or 3, maybe more, maybe less, I don't remember exactly ) I have some kind of headaches...

Those are not normal headaches, I don't feel the same kind of pain.
And they I feel them always in the exact same place.. In the front right of my head..

This doesn't happen everyday... it was happening maybe two time a week... When it happen, it lasts usually between 30min to 2-3 hours...

I thought this was just some kind of normal headhaches and it would eventually dissappear.. but it doesnt

Recently, it seems to happen more like one day on two..
(some time it happens 2-3 times the sameday, with intervals)

And recently it the pain seems stronger..

So I'm thinking about going to see a doctor soon.

What do you think this could be ?
Is it looking like a brain tumor? Or anything else?

Thanks

Re: Brain tumor?

Headaches are very common and can be caused by so many things it's impossible to guess. They can be caused by sinus problems, allergies, eye strain, being in the same position for a long time, muscle strain, and too many things to name. If the headaches are bothering you, it's a good idea to see a doctor. If I were you, I would put brain tumor on the bottom of the list of possible causes. One sided headaches are often migraines, caused by blood vessels on the effected side of the head.

Hi Hedos!

Don't jump to the extremes. See the doctor soon. Saraly has some great pointers in her post! There are so many OTHER reasons than brain tumors that can cause headaches. Maybe it's time for an eye test, or to check your sinuses or allergies. And keep track of your activities and keep of journal of when your headaches occur. Include things like how well you slept, if you ate or drank anything in particular before having the headaches, etc. It could be something as simple as a diet issue or a lumpy pillow. Heck, get yourself a massage!

Make that appointment with the doctor. And stay POSITIVE!
Good luck!

Re: Brain tumor?

Ditto with other additions. Check out your posture. I have chronic neck/back problems which are made worse by my profession (hair). Stress also causes muscle tightening. Jaw clenching can cause pain in the temple/above the eye area. Hold your fingers around the temple and then clench your jaw.......you can feel the muscles tightening.

It's always good to get thoroughly checked out....like an elimination process. I also used to get a certain headache on the right side when I was ovulating and the day before my period. Never let me down. If you're female, or even male..at age 16 there are many hormonal changes.

Certain smells can trigger headaches, sunshine, not eating (hunger headache). I even get one from eating pork. Bleach and diesel give me an instant headache...feels like a knife being thrust into my head.

I've had headaches since I was 11...I'm now 49. Aspirin is the only med (demerol works good too...but not good availability!) over the counter that works for me. Anacin is awesome (with caffeine). I also see a chiropractor for neck/back adjustments. Neck pain can refer pain to the head.

I also want to add that if your headache happens at a certain time of the day.....drink a glass or two of water. when I was working fulltime, I always got one around 2:00. I'd chug half my bottle of water, and most times it diminished within 15 minutes. Dehydration is a definite cause of many headaches.

It's basically subjective....but there are many reasons why people get headaches. Many people, each suffer from different kinds of headaches and treat each one differently.

I hope you're able to get it resolved. Keeping a daily diary including time, activity, foods, where.....etc headaches happen, you may very well be able to figure it out.

Best to you,
quincy
