zetia

you people that don't like statins and stuff , i took zocor for 4 days and had muscle weakness so gave that up and after trying another statin lescol for one day said no thank you. so i tried zetia it's a tiny little pill 10mg i had know side affects from it except maybe a little heartburn which wasn't often. it's the first of it's kind that makes your stomach not absorb cholesterol instead of working in your liver to stop your liver from making cholesterol, well anyways it's about 40 or 50 bucks cheaper than lipitor or zocor, i have minimal change disease a kidney problem so my body supposedly doesn't metabolize cholesterol so at 28 now my total cholesterol was 336 after taking zetia for 3 days my triglicerides stayed about the same but ldl went from 200 to 143. i had a concern about it being a newer drug but the internal medicine guy said he thought it was pretty safe because it passes through your system everyday. so whatever just thought i would tell you about that one plus i just started taking inositol Hexanicotinate niacin at 1500 mg aday, so we'll see if that works some or not.

Really now. My endocrigolgist just gave me 30 day samples of this med to lower my cholesterol. I reluctantly tried it for a week. It caused me so much pain in my lower back I stopped taking it. Accoring to the government website: (nih.gov) this pill does have side effects.

Re: zetia

I was able to take it for about 3 months, then I suffered the greatest pain and weakness in my knees - I thought my walking days were over. I stopped the Zetia and very slowly got better. I'm still not completely recovered after 5 months off. The warning labelling now includes joint pain and worse yet a deadly condition called cardio edema! Watch out.
