am i addicted?

i take 2-3 percocets a day usually...i have terrible headaches and it's the only thing that works for me..i was on other medicines but because of a seizure i had to come off of them..i came here for advice b4 but i'm not so sure i'm even addicted because i've gone a few days without one, but i rarely have a day where i don't have a headache..when i don't have one i don't take any pills though. i don't even like them since they make me nausious but i don't know what else to do because the pain is unbearable. do you guys think i'm addicted? i'm afraid i will become really addicted because taking one pill rarely works anymore.

Not yet! If you take them for pain and ONLY for pain you're doing fine. The fact that you are "asking" bothers me a bit! But maybe you just see too many stories and are worried. Pain patients need medication - period.

Have you tried Imitrex? I have had chronic migraines for my entire life and I don't even care about them now because I take an Imitrex and it's gone! Just a thought I know you said Percocets are the only things that work.

Just ask yourself if that message up there isn't just you talking yourself out of the truth? If you need a deterent - read read read - you don't wanna be us!

You may or may not be addicted to percoset but there is such a thing as a re-bound headache which can occur with plain aspirin or acetaminophen as well. It happens because the source of the headache is not being treated and the symptoms are just being held back by pain relief temporarily. When the medication wears off the cause of the head ache is still there. Since percoset is highly addictive, the chances are that your tolerance level, the amount you need to feel relief, will continue to increase. See your doctor about getting to the source of the headaches if you can.

no, not yet..but you are tolerant. if you are taking 3 per day then you have probably become dependant on the meds. how long?? how old are you?? this is a potent med to be taking. have you explored all other avenues?...

i'm only 16...i tried imitrex (my mom uses it for migraines and its like a miracle for her) but for me it doesn't work because i don't have migraines...i just get chronic headaches..it started when i fell off of a trampoline right onto my head..i've had fibromayalgia and chronic fatigue that is from falling off the trampoline, but the headaches are the worst part about it. percocet really is the only thing thats ever given me relief...i guess theres nothing i can do because as terrible as it sounds, i'd risk getting addicted to deal with the pain because it's so bad. i just feel guilty because i can't tell my mom i'm taking 2 at a time when 1 doesn't work because she won't let me take them..so i hafta sneak around..and i feel like if i'm sneaking around then i'm doing something wrong..but i can't tell her cause i don't want her to get all weird. eeep confusion
