I'm not really new to asthma as I've had it for 15yrs but mild enough to never need to check peak flow or use a inhaler til now. When I do my peak flow meter, do I PLUG off my nose when I blow into it or not? I've heard both ways and I really want to do it right so I know where I really stand. Also what does the FEV1 measurement mean again? What is the best and easiest meter to use that can travel with you but not be so obvious in size. So what is the best way and meter? Thanks
I really prefer the Piko1 just because it is small and it does measure your FEV1 (explained that in the other post)...It's electronic, so it is smaller than most mechanical peak flow meters, and it costs about the same.
You don't have to plug your nose, but until you're sure you're not letting air leak out, it may be beneficial to do so.
