Unhappy headaches and sharp pain in neck

Has anyone else experienced this? I am a 31 yo female and have been having constant headaches for a while now. It seems to hurt on the top of my head and sometimes in my neck but I get sharp pains on the right side of my neck. I did have a cyst removed about 12 years ago from the right side of my neck that was attached to my jugular vein. I was on pamelor when I was younger but had an allergy to it. I havent been on anything since but I have been taking ibuprofen daily. Any suggestions? Forgot to mention I have normally low blood pressure but a fast heart rate so I know its not my BP. Thanks

Re: headaches and sharp pain in neck

I am 29 and have the same issues, headaches for about 5 years or so. I did learn that ibuprofen daily will give you rebound headaches...I currently only take that for cramps now. I haven't found anything yet to help my headaches but am currently working with a headache specialist and am taking Inderal for them, still waiting to see if it works.
Have you tried any Imitrex, Zomig, Amerge, etc.? THese are great for those nasty headaches that you can't function during. Also, have you been working with your doctor on what you can do to manage these headaches?

Re: headaches and sharp pain in neck

I have not tried any of those yet. I just got medical insurance that started the 22nd of this month. So i havent seen a doctor in over 2 years. I did go to the ER 2 x in the 2 years but one was for my fast heart rate and the other was for sickness that they werent too concerned about and it ended up treating my fast heart rate.LOL. I did notice that I have some swollen lymph nodes on the back of my neck and a low fever. So I guess I have some kind of infection but these headaches seem to never go away. My hubby called me from work to see how I was and said if I am not better he is bringing me to the ER when he gets home. I dont really want to but if they can stop the headache for a little while I will be quite thankful.
Thanks for replying!
