Low Blood Pressure, Viagra

My blood pressure is a little low at times do to pacemaker syndrome or LV dysfunction. It is usually 115/68, but there are times when sitting for a long period it will drop to a systolic of 103. I asked my doctor if I could use viagra and he said he saw no reason I coudn't. I took it once (12.5 mg) and that seems to do the trick, but my wife is afraid that my blood pressure will drop to low. She is afraid the bottom will drop out. I also take 5mg of Accupril for helping to keep my blood pressure down throughout the day. It is a minor amount. If I take such a low dose of the viagra, does anyone know if it will drop my bp to dangerous levels sleeping after having sex at night or any other time after sex? - gle56

Think I would go with the Dr on this one. Your Bp is just about where mine is as long as I stay on bp meds. My pulse is usually around 50 (again on meds). I take 50mg of Viagra, and have a very slight decrease in both bp and pulse, but not enough to cause concern for either me or my doctor.

Thanks! I really appreciate the feedback. That is one think that is great about this posting. Have you ever taken it at night and gone to sleep? That is probably when my goes the lowest. I am just guessing. - gle

I take 40 mg Lipitor, 25mg Toprol Xl (used to be 50mg), and viagra 50mg at nite when needed. Remainder of meds are taken in AM. Yes I do go to sleep at nite, with my Bp and pulse being the lowest when I awaken in the morning. And that is really when I feel my best!

Thanks that really put me at ease. How low does your bp get? When I had my pacemaker replacement mine went down to 85/? and the bells and whistles went on. It woke me up around 2am. The doctor was called and I was told I was dehydrated. Thanks again. - gle
