I'm a migraine sufferer and my doctor has prescribed Maxalt for me. I have not yet taken it as I am kind of worried about the side effects. I know the most common side effect is pain/pressure in the throat and/or chest, and I am just wondering if anyone has experienced this side effect and how bad it is?
This side effect is listed in most triptans ie imitrix, maxalt, amerge, frova, axert, and zomig. It is a rare side effect although it can happen it just rarely does. It usually occurs in people who have high blood pressure or heart disease and in that case they shouldn't be using these types of medicines anyway. From what I have been told it is an uncomforable feeling that lasts for a couple of hours and then goes away. It isn't a dying feeling just uncomfortable. Hope this helps some.
I have has a migrane for the last few weeeks on and off. I have taken about 20 maxalts. I do get some pressure in my chest but usually it is no big deal and that is usually only if I had to take more than one.
i used maxalt once and once only. it gave me constant projectile vomiting. only drugs that work for me are imitrex - injections only and very high doses of oxycodone and hydrocodone.
