Might have high cholesterol...help!

Recently I have discovered some small bumps under my eyes. I thought maybe it was just a blemish so I ignored it for a while. Well, it was really starting to bother me so I did some research on the internet. I found out that it is a condition called Xanthelesma or Xanthomas. I don't really know what the difference is but it said that it might be due to elevated cholesterol levels. Then it said that it might also be due to diabetes. Please help me..I'm so scared. I am concerned about the high cholesterol but its the diabetes that I am terrified of. My mom has high cholesterol but she doesn't have diabetes. I'm 21 years old and I used to be overweight but I have lost 40 pounds recently so now I'm considered to be healthy weight. Should I worry about this? All these different sites that I have looked at has not helped me one bit. Does anyone have this condition and what do I need to do to get rid of it? Please help...I would greatly appreciate it.
