Post Preparation Guidelines Needed

Hello everyone! My mom, age 75, has been living with me on and off for a couple of months. Her own home has flights of stairs which she can no longer handle (eyesight poor and alzheimers). I don't intend to send her back there. Dad is living alone now and he seems fine with it. (selfish man and i take better care of her anyway---that is another story.) She started taking Exelon 6 months ago. Dr said that recent studies indicate that Exelon is better. Any comments on that?

I am looking for a durable(?) attorney now and also will be looking into a facility known as Respite Care. What lies ahead for all of us, scares and saddens me. I have purposely not discussed her ALz diagnoses. I believe her hearing this word would just depress her. She knows she has memory problems possibly due to aging.

I intend to sit with her and discuss a few health decisions. What exactly should i ask?

What other preparations should i take?

All comments, suggestions are appreciated. Thank you.

Be honest,in a kind way.Do you have POA?If she's living with you,you need it.Just take it One Day At A time.Keep her mind busy, with anything.
I never took Exelon, but was on Aricept 4 yrs.& have been on Reminyl 2 yrs.The longer I'm on Reminyl the better I've done.

Re: Preparation Guidelines Needed

Thank you for replying. Power of Attorney? I am working on that. Just got a number of a lawyer that does that. Recommended by a friend. She also suggested i get a "medical directive". Good luck to you!
