Lecithin and ABC primetime tonight

has anybody tried Lecithin? the guy at the healthstore recommended it with the niacin to help the liver out. I did a search on the internet and it says it helps reduce cholesterol. I am giving it a try.

Also, tonight on Primetime is a story about unnecessary surgeries. Since we Love and Respect Dr's around here, I thought it might be of intrest. I plan to watch it.

Re: Lecithin and ABC primetime tonight

pslam,

I've taken lecithin off and on for 30 years. I started when I read Adele Davis who swore by it as a way of keeping fat from accumulating in livers, especially in heavy drinkers (which i was.)
Claims for the benefits of phospholipids are EVERYWHERE on the net.
I've been religious about a Tbsp a day (granular) for 4 years now (with my cod liver oil.) It's cheap and delicious (Puritan Pride is the cheapest souce I've found.) The only slightly annoying aspect is it's tendency to paste to the teeth. Take BEFORE brushing! I used to buy it as a liquid in a can but I don't think it's around that way anymore. Horse capsules are available but expensive to take that way.

It is a potent fat emulsifier and it seems to be implicated in HDL synthesis (hazy here.)

I have GREAT faith in it (and I'm not much one for faith! )

Re: Lecithin and ABC primetime tonight

ok zip, here is another question for you. I started to take niacin yesterday. I got the regular as opposed to the flush free because I have read on these boards that the regular is better for cholesterol. I expected to get this annoying flush and I didnt. Is that a good thing? Do I need more in my system to experience it? If it will work without me getting the flush, Great! What do you think?

Re: Lecithin and ABC primetime tonight

Psalm91,

I believe the liquid lecithin is still available, but I wouldn't recommend it. I tried it once, but never again. I used to take a tablespoon or two, and it would stick to the roof of my mouth like glue! On top of that, after each use, I used to have to scrub the spoon clean with cleanser to clean it off. I could hardly wait to finish that bottle. Stick (no pun intended) with the granular lecithin. It's far more convenient to use.

Believe it or not, not everyone will flush from niacin. On the other hand, it can be an extremely unpleasant experience for others. As for myself, sometimes I'll experience a flushing sensation, and sometimes I won't notice anything, and I've been taking it for nearly 20 years.

Re: Lecithin and ABC primetime tonight

Thanks Arizona! I have the capsule of the lecithin. I saw the granulars at the store too. How do you take the granules? Everything I have read has been positive about the lecithin. sounds like a great lifestyle choice. I would LOVE to be blessed with not flushing. I didnt flush tonight either-yea!!!
