My understanding is that MMR is one of the few vaccines which has never had thimerasol in it. I believe this is because it is a live virus vaccine, and the mercury would kill the virus making it impotent, but I am not sure of that. The question about MMR safety is due to the triple virus in one shot. Some people think that having measles and mumps together is a very bad idea, mush the way catching measles and mumps in the same year led to a much higher percentage of complication from the native diseases. You may wish to request single shot vaccines spaced several months apart, as in vaccinate first against rubella, then 6 mos. later mumps, then 6 mos. later measles. This would be safer, if the fears of the triple vaccine shot are correct.
