Hello! I just found this board today and it looks promising! I have a son, 4&1/2 , with autism. He is doing pretty well. He attends public pre-school each day and though he really likes it I don't think it's doing a lot for him. I am currently trying to get him a one-on-one aide but I sense they are trying to stall me. I would be interested to hear from anyone who has successfully persuaded the school for an aide. I'd also like to hear from anyone in Oklahoma. Looking foreward to hearing from all of you!

MY SON IS 9 YEARS OLD AND HE WENT THROUGH THE PUBLIC SCHOOL PRE-SCHOOL. WE LIVE IN INDIANA SO LAWS MIGHT BE DIFFERENT. MATTS PRE-SCHOOL COULD ONLY HAVE 8 CHILDREN IN IT,THEY HAD 3 ADULTS 1 TEACHER AND 2 AIDES.
THEY DIDN'T HAVE ANY AIDES ASIGNED TO CERTIN KIDS, IF THE KIDS WERE REAL BAD WITH BEHAVOR OR OTHER PROBLEMS 1 SEMESTER THEY RECEIVED A 3RD. AIDE. ONCE HE WENT TO KINDIGARDEN HE HAD A ONO-ONE ONE AIDE,WE WORK IT OUT IN HIS IEP MEETING. HE IS IN THIRD GRADE AND STILL HAS A AIDE, HE DOES GYM AND LUNCH AND A FEW OTHER THINGS WITH OUT THE AIDE DURING THE DAY. MATT IS HIGH FUNCHING NON VERBAL. HE WAS IN A REGULAR CLASS TILL THIS YEAR, THIS YEAR HE SPLITS HIS TIME BETWEEN A REGULAR 3RD. GRADE CLASS AND THE SPECIAL ED. ROOM AND IT WORKS OUT GOOD. YPU NEED TO CHECK OUT YOUR PARENT RIGHTS IF THE SCHOOL DIDN'T GIVE YOU A PARENTS RIGHTS BOOK ASK FOR ONE.
DOES YOUR SON TAKE SECRETIN, AND IS HE ON A SPECIAL DIET? BOTH HELP MATT.
