I have an 8yr old daughter who is mildly autistic. Within the past month she has become agressive, hitting and kicking, other children, her teachers; there is no pattern to this behavior. She does not display this behavior at home. She has no contact at home with other children, she is an only child. I have read everything on line regarding behavior and I am looking for some information from people who have been there - can you help?
Hay you'r talking about my son! He was 8 when he started to have problems in school hitting, banging head on floor throwing things etc. We have put him on meds and that has helped but the more stress he is under the worse he is. Good luck.

School rings a bell. I would suggest getting Doris Rapps book from the library. I can't remember the title, but it is all about allergies. Enviromental allergies are a big problem with autistic children. School have a lot of enviromental contaminants. Her book will amaze you. I believe it touches on allergy induced autism as well. EXCELLENT BOOK!!!! She is a research doctor. This is the first book I looked at when I realized something wasn't right with my son. If she doesn't have the behavior at home I would think there is a high possibility ofsome toxin overloading her system. I hope you find out what is causing her this problem.
I too can relate to your problem. Our son is 8 and has started hitting furniture in school and kicking things. He does not hurt anyone but he seems to be doing this for attention according to his teacher. We have worked on a behavoral plan and hope that if we all do the same with him that he will stop. He usually only does these things in the morning when he gets there. Once he receives his 2nd dose of meds he calms down and they day he is usually great! Hang in there I know its frustrating!
