mole question

I have lots of freckles and moles, and it all runs in my family from my father's side. My dad, his sister and her kids all have lots of freckles and moles. Cancer does not run in our family and all of our moles and freckles are normal. However, on my leg on the side above the knee I have this mole. It's a normal size, typical brown color, however, around it, it has a lighter shade of brown. It's been like this forever and has not changed. Should I get it checked out thought???

Re: mole question

The rule of thumb is if a mole changes in any way shape or form, have it checked out. If it has been the same forever I would not worry about it.
