Question MRI, EGG

Hi
My daughter 2.4, was recently diagnosed with PDD. I took her with a neurologist, who send me right away to MRI and EGG tests.
This Doctor didn't want to talk to me any further without the results of the tests.

Are those tests really necessary?
I am concerned because they have to be made with full anesthesia. -I hate the idea to put my girl to sleep for a test that my not be nesessary for her diagnostic.

What do you thing?
should I do the tests anyway?

Thanks
Gail

My son is only a couple of months older than your child and his doctor recommended the same thing. At first, I figured why not, but as time passes and I read more I have opted not to put my son through those tests. I was advised that such tests were conducted to rule out other causes of autistic characteristics. I asked the doctor what it would mean if the brain patterns were different and he told me that we would deal with it then. No clear answer hence, no test. When it comes to situations we're not sure of, we have to rely on our instincts as parents and follow our hearts. Ask some quetions and see where it will take you. If your doctor is not willing to discuss this further, find someone who will.

Take care,

Sam

My daughter is 2 1/2 and her neurologist also wanted to schudule her for a MRI and EEG. I have put this off for the same reasons as you. I finally called today and told the office, that she would not be put through these tests, unless we had more information.
This is my first time to this board and I was so glad to see someone else feeling this way.
