Try Head & Shoulders or Selsun Blue. Dry scalp and dandruff (which are basically the same thing) can both cause an itchy scalp.

Re: Itchy Head, please help.....

I used to have an itchy scalp, I didn't have dandruff or signs of a dry scalp. The doc said it was nerves.
I covered my head with olive oil on a weekend and let it soak in all day. Either that helped or I stopped worrying, cause it wasn't itchy anylonger. And I do still worry so...

I use Head & Shoulders Intensive Treatment (it's a very dark blue bottle) and I also pour Listerine move my head and rub it into my scalp once I am finished washing my hair. It really works!

Re: Itchy Head, please help.....

I was prescribed Nizoral shampoo when I had a very very itchy spot on the back of my head and it was pealing a lot. Every once in a while that spot will be itchy again and I use Nizoral from the store not the prescription kind. The difference is strength. Prescription strength is 2% and over the counter is 1% of the active ingredient. It works really well though.
