ibs or ovaries??

Please help as I am worried. I have had low right pelvic pain for about 2 years now along with lots of digestive problems. I have been told it is ibs but I worry as I know the symptoms between that and ovarian cancer are similar. I had a laparoscopy about 18 months ago and I have had an ultra sound as well. Is there cause for my concern?

A colonoscopy would rule out IBS or diverticulitis. Things that could cause pain without being cancer would be polyps that can be removed during the colonoscopy.

Re: ibs or ovaries??

stedwell, i am feeling the same pain as you right now. my doctor tellls me that it is porbably my veins that is causing the discomfort, but i have a lumpy feeling in my lower right pelvic region and its getting more severe by the day. i also have an urgency to pass urine.

My doctor tells me to watch out to see if the area gets swollen, because that will mean there's a problem. Its swollen now. So, i really dont know...im still waiting for results from my pap test, and im a bit scared. If anyone knows what my case is, or if they can give any advice, please write back. And, my hopes to you stedwell, to find your answer as well.

Re: ibs or ovaries??

Hi Sarah
I have also been told that it could be my veins and I know they can inject them to see if any are blocked or twisted. Are they going to send you for an ultrasound scan? Iwould ask for one if the pain continues. Try not to worry. I know that is so hard - but be positive. When I was first examined my doctor said I probably had a cyst on my ovary. I was so scared but know I realise how common that is. Lots of my friends have had them and they come and go. What do you mean by a lumpy feeling? Is it really low in your groin? That is where my pain is. Let me know how you get on.

Re: ibs or ovaries??

i've been sent for an ultrasound scan already, and all they found were fibroids. My pain is in my groin area, or slightly above it. (seems like we almost have the same problem!) Lumpy feeling, as in there seems to be a lump in it. Write back soon.

Cheers,
Sarah
